NEW BOOKS

MALLEE SKY BY Jodi Toering and illustrated by Tannya Harricks

is a timely and very beautiful picture book about the impact of drought in the Mallee. Books+publishing recently awarded it a four-and-a-half star review, saying Toering's language is both lyrical and accessible; the narrative dips into first person, helping children connect to the descriptions of landscape, but largely rests in careful, poetic prose. Complementing the textual imagery of the broad, wide stillness of the drought-stricken region, Harricks' oil painting are sure, rich, and full of motion.

NEW BOOKS IN OUR LIBRARY

TWIN SPIN by Adam Cece

is  light hearted story about identical twins Anna and Steph.  Although they look the same, the two girls have completely different personalities. When they are forced to go literally walk in the others shoes for a week, a new found respect and love for each other emerges.  There are themes of family, commitment, artistic integrity and personal values in this story.
